CMT Energy Co. Ltd. (CMT), a joint-venture between SCG Cleanergy Co., Ltd. and B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited, commenced commercial operation (COD) of its 10-megawatt ground-mounted solar power plant project (CMT1) on January 28, 2026, in Mae Tha District, Lampang Province. This project is one of the first to successfully develop and sell electricity under the Government Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) framework in early 2026, with ONNEX by SCG as the main contractor.

The CMT1 project is the first project under the group of renewable energy power supply projects in the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) format from 2022 to 2030 for groups without fuel costs, selected according to the regulations of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). The electricity sales rate is 2.1679 baht per kilowatt-hour for the entire 25-year power purchase agreement with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), from a total generating capacity of over 323 MWp. Commercial operation (COD) is scheduled to commence gradually from 2026 to 2030.
Mr. Chokchai Montriamorachet, VP – Renewable Power, SCG Cleanergy, spoke about the importance of the project, stating, “CMT1 is the first Government Project that SCG Cleanergy has successfully developed and generated electricity for sale to the government. CMT1 marks a significant step for SCG Cleanergy in expanding its role into developing concrete electricity generation projects for sale to the government. The challenges of the project lay in managing the project timeframe, with a planned Commercial Operation Date (COD) within 14 months of issuing the Notice to Proceed (NTP), coupled with continuous rainfall during the initial construction phase, as well as limitations in materials, machinery, and labor due to the simultaneous commencement of several Government PPA projects. However, through systematic planning, clearly prioritizing tasks, and support from relevant government agencies such as the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the Department of Industrial Works, and local authorities, as well as ONNEX by SCG, the EPC for the project, CMT1 was successfully completed according to the planned schedule.”
Mr. Nopadej Karnasuta, President – Thailand, Malaysia and Energy & Industrial Solutions Business, B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited, revealed that the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of the CMT1 ground-mounted solar power plant project aligns with B.Grimm Power’s goal of continuously expanding its renewable energy portfolio both domestically and internationally. The strategic collaboration with SCG Cleanergy is a concrete step in line with B.Grimm Power’s GreenLeap-Global and Green strategy, focusing on diversifying its renewable energy portfolio in terms of both location and technology to support its vision of becoming a global leader in renewable energy. The success of the CMT1 project not only confirms the potential of the collaboration between SCG Cleanergy and B.Grimm Power in developing Government PPA projects but also serves as a crucial model for future Big Lot Government PPA projects, contributing to the creation of a sustainable clean energy system for the country and ensuring sustainable future growth.
